Azion Technologies is a next-generation content delivery network founded in 2011 and based in Brazil. At the current time they are heavily focused on the Brazilian market (with 25 POPs in that country alone), but there are plans to expand globally in 2016. Although the company is still in its early stages, it is full featured and offers many of the performance optimizations you would normally only get with a more mature company, including real-time cache and purge, application acceleration, image optimization and manipulation, DDoS mitigation and WAF, log streaming, and on the fly FEO.
Azion markets itself as the Azion Real Time Platform, due to its powerful edge computing technology and ability to cache and purge content nearly instantly. They also offer real-time reporting and log processing.
As of the end of 2015 Azion has 25 POPs in Brazil, 3 in the US, and 1 in London. It’s safe to say they are currently a regional player, but they have big plans for 2106 and will be expanding all over North and South America, plus a few locations in Europe and Asia.
While Azion still has a relatively small and regional data center footprint, their technology looks to be more advanced than even many of the larger and more established CDN players.
Media Acceleration – Azion allows customers to encode, package, and deliver their media to any device with automatic transmuxing to all popular protocols in the cloud.
Web Acceleration – Azion’s Real Time Platform can cache and purge content almost instantly and offers loads of optimization features including adaptive delivery, image optimization and FEO, API acceleration, and a rules engine.
Security – Azion’s Edge Armor solution is built into their software-defined CDN at the edge and includes deep packet inspection, advanced DDoS mitigation, and a full featured web application firewall.
